God’s Love and Compassion: a prayer

“…Pour out your heart before him, God is a refuge for us”

Psalm 62:8

“O Lord, you call me to pour out my heart before you, and I will pour. I ask of you, Lord, reveal my own heart to me. It has been so long since I poured out my heart to you. My heart has become backlogged, stagnant from the debris that has clogged it.

O Lord, to pour out my heart I have to know my hearts needs. I also have to know, without question, your willingness to be “poured upon”. And yet who would ask another to “pour out your heart to me”, but one filled with love and compassion?

O Lord, so pour I will! I pour out my yearning for you. I want so much to experience spiritual renewal, but it alludes me. The mire of distractions and responsibilities squeezes me.

So I pour out my heart for your help, O Lord. Bring me to a place of intimacy with you – to bask in your love, to experience your pleasure. I would seek you with all my heart!

I also pour out my heart in confession. Not the “big sins” but the small compromises have bogged me in the way. So help me to break out, to reignite the flame to burn again. You can change things in an instant! O lord, change my heart, change my focus. Great God of love and compassion – hear the “pourings” of my heart!

  • Tom Mc. – Praise Report – I’d asked prayers for my supervisor (John) who underwent open heart surgery for a valve issue. The Lord blessed him and his family well and he is now recovering at home. Please pray for my very good friend David Palmer. He had a minor heart attack last week but his diabetes was out of control and he never felt the symptoms until his racing heart made him dizzy. He is under medical care now. Please pray for wisdom on the doctor’s part, strength and patience on Dave’s part, and that Lord would chose to reveal his Glory to Dave and all his family and friends with a true healing.
  • Christine D.- My 2nd cousin Shaun, who is a pre-mature infant (by 2 months), had open heart surgery last week. It lasted 6 hours and went well, but they have to leave it open for a week and therefore keep him sedated. So please pray that the surgery fixed everything and that he will be okay during this week of sedation.

Outreach Idea of the Week: Get involved! Show that you care about your community by getting involved in a neighborhood “cause”. That could be anything from a Crime Watch group to a Home Owners Association. Then show you care about your neighbors by getting to know them, their concerns, and their needs!

Dan & Melody Taube (Argentina) – Praise for 10 new contacts that Melody made during her recent personal style seminar.  Pray that these relationships will grow and the gospel will be shared.  Pray for the participants in their home Bible studies, that they will grow in their commitment to Christ.

Gordon & Cheryl Roedding (Mali) – Praise that the English Club for University students has gone well.  Pray for this ministry and for a new Business English class at a trade school that started on 9/30.
